As part of their adoption of Edison Elementary School, the South Bay Lakers recently held a day of reading for students in Torrance.
On Jan. 30, South Bay players and coaches were joined by members of the Laker Girls and Lakers employees, as they broke up into classrooms for readings of “Sylvester and the Magic Pebble.”

Players also signed shirts for the kids and left each room a copy of the book.
This day was another piece of South Bay’s yearlong adoption of Edison Elementary, with more events planned before summer vacation begins.
South Bay forward Rob Heyer echoed the team’s commitment as he left class, waving goodbye and saying, “Have a good day, you guys. I’ll see you soon.”
