South Bay’s Backcourt Overpowers Agua Caliente in Road Victory

The Agua Caliente Clippers (14-7) could not contain the South Bay backcourt as they fell to the South Bay Lakers (14-7), 108-100, on Sunday afternoon.

The South Bay duo of Mac McClung and Mason Jones combined for 60 points, 20 rebounds, and eight three-pointers. Individually, McClung led all scorers with 35 points and 11 rebounds, his seventh double-double of the season, while Jones recorded 25 points and nine rebounds.

Nate Darling led Agua Caliente with 22 points off the bench while Shevon Thompson added a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double.

After trailing by as many as 14 in the first half, the Clippers fought back in the third and forced six lead changes in the quarter. The contest remained neck-and-neck with the score tied at 98 with 1:23 left in regulation, but the Lakers finished the game with a 10-2 run to seal the victory.

South Bay will return home to the UCLA Health Training Center as they prepare to take on the Memphis Hustle on Thursday, March 10 at 7 PM PT.
