The NBA G League announced today that South Bay Lakers guard Mason Jones has been named to the 2021-22 All-NBA G League First Team, and guard Mac McClung has been named to the All-NBA G League Rookie Team.

In 28 regular season games (all starts) for South Bay this season, Jones averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists in 37.2 minutes. The 23-year-old ranked third in the G League in points per game and was named NBA G League Player of the Month for games played in January. Jones signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on December 21 and appeared in four NBA games the rest of the season, averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 rebounds in 12.6 minutes.

McClung, who was recently named the 2021-22 NBA G League Rookie of the Year, ranked fifth in the G League in assists per game (7.6) and tenth in free throw percentage (88.0). The Gate City, Virginia native posted strong averages of 21.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals as a starting guard in 26 regular season games this season. After spending most of the season with South Bay as an affiliate player, McClung signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on April 9 and recorded six points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the team’s final regular season game at the Denver Nuggets.

The dynamic backcourt of Jones and McClung helped guide South Bay to one of their most productive and efficient seasons in franchise history as the team shot a league-best 48.2% from the floor in the regular season. South Bay posted a 10-4 record in the Showcase Cup followed by a 21-11 record in the regular season, earning a three-seed in the Western Conference and ultimately advancing to the Western Conference Semifinals.
