EL SEGUNDO – Los Angeles D-Fenders guard Vander Blue was named as the NBA Development League Performer of the Week today for games played Monday, Dec. 19, through Sunday, Dec. 25. It is the first weekly honor of the season for Los Angeles and the second of Blue’s career.
Blue (6-5, 200) led the league with 87 points in three Los Angeles wins last week, averaging 29.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He tallied an individual and team season-high with 33 points against Greensboro on Thursday, also recording 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the year. On Monday, Dec. 19, against the Long Island Nets, Blue converted 17-of-18 attempts from the free throw line to set a D-Fenders single-game record. He has now scored at least 30 points in three of his last four games.
The third-year D-Fender is currently fourth in the league with a scoring average of 23.2 points per game. Blue is also averaging 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists through 17 games with Los Angeles this season, and he is currently 11th on the NBA D-League’s all-time scoring list.
