Hustle Falls to South Bay 124-116 in First of Two-Game Series

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies’ NBA G League affiliate, lost 124-116 to the South Bay Lakers Monday, Jan. 24, in the first of a two-game series at Landers Center.

Mason Jones guided South Bay with 28 points. Mac McClung scored 25 points, while Chaundee Brown Jr. chipped in with 21 points for the Lakers, who had seven players score in double figures, including all five starters.

Cam Young scored 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Hustle. Tyrell Terry added 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting off the bench. Shaq Buchanan (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Freddie Gillespie (14 points, 12 rebounds) both posted double-doubles. Buchanan had nine assists for the near triple-double.

South Bay shot 51.1% from the field and 47.1% from 3-point range, hitting 16 of its 34 attempts from long range. The Lakers also blocked 11 shots, holding the Hustle to 26-of-50 shooting in the paint.

The Lakers led 65-63 at halftime before shooting 15-of-24 in the third quarter to stretch their lead to 20 points. South Bay shot 15-of-24 from the field, made 6-of-9 from beyond the arc and recorded 10 assists during the frame.
