The Phoenix Suns announced today the team has signed South Bay Lakers forward Paris Bass to a 10-day contract. Bass’ NBA call-up marks the eighth of the season for South Bay, the most of any team in the G League, and the 44th in team history.
In 14 games (seven starts) with South Bay this season, Bass (6’8”, 200) averaged 17.9 points (.490 FG%), 8.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 28.2 minutes per game. The 26-year-old led the team in field goals (96) and rebounds (118) this season and was named to the NBA G League All-Showcase Team earlier this month.
Prior to signing with the Lakers, the Birmingham, Michigan native played two seasons in Puerto Rico with Atleticos de San German. Bass went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft after spending two collegiate seasons (2014-16) at the University of Detroit-Mercer, averaging 15.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 57 games (40 starts). He was named Horizon League Freshman of the Year in 2015 and received First Team All-Horizon League honors as a sophomore in 2015-16.
Bass will wear uniform No. 30 with the Suns.
