South Bay Lakers Acquire Jemerrio Jones in Trade with Wisconsin

The South Bay Lakers, the G League affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, announced today the team has acquired forward Jemerrio Jones from the Wisconsin Herd in exchange for a 2022 NBA G League first round draft pick (via Lakeland Magic), South Bay’s 2022 third round draft pick and the returning player rights to Wayne Selden Jr. In a related move, the team has waived forward/center Will Davis II.
Jones (6-5, 175) returns to the Lakers organization after signing at 10-day NBA contract with Los Angeles on December 21, 2021, under the NBA’s Hardship Exception provisions. The New Mexico State alum appeared in two games with the Lakers during that stretch, averaging 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 7.5 minutes per game.
The Tennessee native also played six games (two starts) for the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2018-19 campaign, averaging 4.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 23.8 minutes. Jones spent the majority of that season with South Bay (47 games, six starts), averaging 9.4 points (.542 FG%), 9.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals in 24.7 minutes per game.
In 19 games (seven starts) this season for Wisconsin, Jones averaged 6.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 23.4 minutes per game.
Jones will wear jersey number 10 for South Bay.
