South Bay Lakers celebrates Beautification Project at Carr Elementary with a Reveal Day

On Thursday, February 15th, South Bay Lakers, Los Angeles Lakers, Laker Girls, and Lakers Gaming staff participated in the South Bay Lakers Beautification Team Up project at Carr Elementary in Torrance. Lakers Staff painted and beautified Carr Elementary playground, providing students with a fun and safe place to learn and grow.

Staff refreshed paint on several games in the play area including four-square, tetherball, and the U.S. Map. The basketball courts were also beautified with refurbished basketball baskets and the South Bay Lakers and Carr Elementary Logos, hand painted by a community group, Sernas – Ortiz Art.

On Wednesday, February 28th the South Bay Lakers and Los Angeles Lakers team held a reveal for Carr Elementary School students and staff. The reveal started with three speeches from Los Angeles Lakers Community Relations Coordinator, Jose Ledesma, Carr Elementary School Principal, Dr. Argento, and a student from Carr Elementary. Following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, staff joined 100 students during their recess to break in the new playground.

This event is part of South Bay Lakers’ yearlong programming with Center St. Elementary that includes opportunities to interact with the South Bay Lakers team through basketball programming, educational programming, beautification, and tickets to South Bay Lakers games throughout the season.
