South Bay Lakers Face Heartbreak Against Ontario

The South Bay Lakers played in their fourteenth NBA G League Winter Showcase Cup game against the Ontario Clippers as they lost, 127-121, on Saturday night. Louis King led the Lakers (7-7) in scoring with a career-high 34 points. Brandon Boston paced the Clippers (9-5), scoring 32 points.
The first frame saw both teams find an early offensive rhythm with buckets falling on both sides. King led the way for South Bay with 10 points and three rebounds in the quarter, while Jordan Miller and Xavier Moon both put up nine for the Clippers. South Bay trailed after one, 32-33.
The second period was the first time the Clippers were able to get some breathing room, opening up a 10-point lead halfway through the frame. D’Moi Hodge and Miller led both teams with nine in the period. The Lakers trailed 60-74 at halftime.
The Lakers started the third period on 7-0 run to get back cut the deficit in half. South Bay continued to battle throughout the quarter, going into the final frame only down three, 94-97.
The final frame was extremely back and forth with no one team building any sort of cushion. With South Bay trailing by just one with 40 seconds remaining, Clipper forward Brandon Boston sunk a three-pointer from the right wing that buried the Laker’s hope of a comeback.
King tallied a career-high 34 points on 85% shooting, three rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes. Shaq Harrison finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 14 assists in 34 minutes, good for his fourth career triple-double and second straight. For the Clippers, Boston Jr. finished with 32 points and 10 boards, while Miller tallied 29 points and 10 five rebounds.
South Bay will travel to Orlando, FL to play in the 2023 Winter Showcase from Dec. 19-22, at Hyatt Regency Orlando and the Orange County Convention Center.
