South Bay Lakers Make Roster Moves

The South Bay Lakers have acquired the returning player rights to Chaundee Brown Jr. and a 2024 second round pick from the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League, as well as the returning player rights to Devontae Cacok, Micah Potter and Jay Scrubb from the Osceola Magic. As part of the transactions, South Bay sent the returning player rights to Javante McCoy to Austin and the returning player rights to Trevelin Queen to Osceola.
Brown Jr. (6'5", 215) has appeared in five career NBA games (two starts) for the Atlanta Hawks and the Los Angeles Lakers, owning career averages of 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game. The 24-year-old spent the 2022-23 season with the Austin Spurs, appearing in 20 games (19 starts) and averaging 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 30.0 minutes per game. Brown Jr. returns to South Bay after playing in 30 regular season games (all starts) for the team during the 2021-22 season, averaging 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30.4 minutes per game.
Cacok (6'7", 240) has appeared in 36 career NBA games (one start) across three seasons for the San Antonio Spurs (2021-22) and the Los Angeles Lakers (2019-21), averaging 2.5 points and 2.2 rebounds in 6.3 minutes per game. Cacok played in 14 contests (all starts) last season with the Motor City Cruise of the NBA G League, posting averages of 19.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 31.3 minutes per game. The Chicago, Ill., native also returns to South Bay after appearing in 33 games (two starts) for the squad during the 2019-20 campaign, averaging 19.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 23.9 minutes.
Potter (6’8”, 248) has appeared in 10 career NBA games across two seasons with the Utah Jazz (2022-23) and the Detroit Pistons (2021-22), averaging 3.6 points and 2.5 assists in 8.3 minutes per game. The former Wisconsin Badger has appeared in 50 career G League games (48 starts) over two seasons with the Salt Lake City Stars (2022-23) and Sioux Falls Skyforce (2021-22). In the recent campaign with the Stars, Potter averaged 15.1 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.1 minutes per game. The Mentor, Ohio, native appeared in 33 games (all starts) in the 2021-22 season with Sioux Falls, averaging 17.0 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.
Scrubb (6’5’’, 220) has appeared in 24 career NBA games across three seasons with the Orlando Magic (2022-23) and LA Clippers (2020-22), posting averages of 4.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game. The Louisville, Ky., native has played in 30 career G League games (27 starts) over two seasons. During the course of the 2022-23 season with the Lakeland Magic, Scrubb averaged 22.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 31.0 minutes per game.
McCoy appeared in 26 regular season games for South Bay last season, averaging 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds in 3.6 assists in 25.9 minutes per game.
Queen appeared in 24 games (15 starts) in 2022-23 for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, averaging 22.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 34.3 minutes per game.
