South Bay Lakers Sign Vance Jackson Jr. and Adam Kunkel

The South Bay Lakers have acquired the returning player rights to forward Vance Jackson Jr. and guard Adam Kunkel from the available player pool, it was announced today.

Jackson Jr. (6’9”, 230) joins South Bay after appearing in six NBA G League Showcase and regular season games for the Salt Lake City Stars this season, averaging 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds in 5.7 minutes per contest. The Pasadena, Calif., native competed collegiately at East Carolina (2021-22), Arkansas (2020-21), New Mexico (2018-20) and UConn (2016-17). In his senior campaign with the Pirates, Jackson Jr. appeared in 30 games (all starts) and averaged 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 31.1 minutes.

Kunkel (6’4”, 185) most recently appeared in seven NBA G League regular season games for the Mexico City Capitanes this season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 16.9 minutes per contest. The Kentucky native finished his collegiate career at Xavier (2021-23) after competing his first two seasons at Belmont (2018-20). As a senior, Kunkel appeared in 35 games (32 starts) for the Musketeers and averaged 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals in 30.4 minutes per game.

Jackson Jr. will wear jersey No. 7 for the South Bay Lakers, while Kunkel will wear No. 47.
