South Bay Lakers Suffer Home Loss To Ontario

The South Bay Lakers played in their fifteenth NBA G League regular season game against the Ontario Clippers as they lost 113-99 on Sunday night. Colin Castleton led the Lakers (10-5), in scoring with 20 points. Josh Primo paced the Clippers (7-9), scoring 22 points.

The Lakers jumped out to an early nine-point lead before behind a great early defensive effort. Just six minutes later, Ontario had stormed all the way back to reclaim a one-point lead of their own. South Bay trailed 31-33 after one.

Clippers guard Armoni Brooks scored five quick points to help give the clippers a 10-point lead halfway through the second frame. The Lakers made a late push, but Ontario held them off to end the half. Colin Castleton led the Lakers at the half with 10 points. South Bay trailed going into the second half, 51-57.

South bay found it difficult to get over the hump in the early part of the third period, as a quick run was answered by Ontario stretching their lead to 12 with six minutes remaining. However, a 9-0 run to close the period saw the Lakers go into the final frame trailing by just two, 77-79.

Ontario put together a 13-4 run to start the period extend their lead with eight minutes remaining. South Bay could never retake the lead, falling eventually, 99-113.

Castleton put together a final line of 22 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks in 28 minutes. Hamilton added 17 points and six rebounds while Weatherspoon added 17 points and five rebounds off the bench. For the Clippers, Josh Primo put up 22 points and four rebounds, and Xavier Moon scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out eight assists.

South Bay will face off against the Salt Lake City Stars on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 5:00pm from the UCLA Health Training Center.
