South Bay Lakers Wraps up Season with Beautification Project at Center Street School

On Thursday, May 11th, South Bay Lakers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Lakers Gaming staff participated in the South Bay Lakers Beautification Project Team UP event held at Center St. Elementary in El Segundo. Staff along with Laker Girls, painted and beautified one of the playgrounds, providing students with a fun and safe place to learn and grow.

Staff refreshed paint on several games in the play area including four-square, a floor dartboard, U.S. map, and tetherball. The basketball courts were also renovated with the South Bay Lakers and Center St. Elementary School Logos, hand painted by a community group, Sernas – Ortiz Art.

On Monday, May 15th the South Bay Lakers and Los Angeles Lakers team held a reveal for Center St Elementary School students and staff where two classes were able to participate in the revealing ceremony and break in the newly beautified playground. The reveal started with two speeches from Los Angeles Lakers Community Relations Coordinator, Jose Ledesma and Center St. Elementary School Principal, Rose Ahrens followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterward, staff joined students during their recess to play on the new playground.

This event is part of South Bay Lakers’ yearlong programming with Center St. Elementary that includes opportunities to interact with the South Bay Lakers team, educational programming, beautification, and tickets to South Bay Lakers games throughout the season.
