South Bay Takes Down Santa Cruz On Game-Winning Dunk By Paris Bass

SANTA CRUZ, CA – The South Bay Lakers (8-4) defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors (5-9) in their Sunday evening matchup at Kaiser Permanente Arena, 112-110.

South Bay Lakers guard Mac McClung led both teams with 37 points and added five rebounds and six assists. Forward Chaundee Brown Jr. added 27 points and center Jay Huff finished the night with 18 points and four rebounds in the Lakers win.

Golden State Warriors two-way forward Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Warriors with 33 points and added six rebounds. Forward Jerome Robinson finished the night with 23 points and five rebounds and center LJ Figueroa added 21 points and nine rebounds. Warriors guard Kendall Smith finished with a double-double, notching 18 points and 11 assists in the loss.

The two teams stayed competitive throughout the first quarter, but the Warriors offense went on a late 12-0 run to secure the lead heading into the second quarter, 31-21. The Sea Dubs momentum carried into the second quarter, but the Lakers took the lead thanks to a 21-3 run late in the quarter, finishing the half with a 56-52 lead over the Warriors. Santa Cruz came back to tie the game at 87 late in the third quarter heading into the final frame. The lead went back and forth in the fourth quarter, but the Lakers took a two-point lead with just 1.8 seconds to secure the win over the Warriors, 112-110.

The South Bay Lakers will now host the Santa Cruz Warriors on Thursday, February 10 at 7 p.m.
